In the Dominican Republic, a jeepeta is any SUV or off-road vehicle. The name comes from the Jeep brand, which was the first all-terrain vehicle to become well known. Because of this, the term is now used generically for all vehicles in that category, so even a Land Rover or a Toyota 4Runner is called a jeepeta.
